Six people displaced after two homes, RV catch fire in Henderson

Five adults and one child were displaced after two homes in Henderson and a recreational vehicle caught fire Tuesday, according to a Henderson Fire Department media release.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, the release said. The total estimated property and content loss is $445,000. There were no injuries to residents or firefighters, but two pet cats died in the fire.

Just after 2:30 p.m., firefighters responded to the 500 block of Zuber Avenue, near East Warm Springs Road and North Boulder Highway, spokeswoman Kathleen Richards said.

The fire started in a single-story, single-family home and spread to another single-story, single-family home next door, she said. The fire also spread to the other side of the home to a parked RV.

The statement said firefighters organized an exterior defensive attack on both residences, extinguishing the fire in the second home and RV, then in the first home.

Richards said there is an apartment complex located behind the home. One of the apartment buildings was evacuated, but was not damaged.

Resident of the first home were not home at the time of the fire; two adults and a child were in the second home and evacuated the residence safely, the release said.
