Stolen car probe kept Cactus closed at Decatur nearly 2 hours

Police closed part of a south valley intersection Monday after police stopped a man they said would not get out of a vehicle that had been reported as stolen.

Cactus Avenue east of Decatur Boulevard was closed about two hours, Las Vegas police said. Nearby businesses were evacuated, and drivers were advised to avoid the area.

When officers stopped a black Chevrolet sedan about noon, Metro said, the driver wouldn’t get out of the car and made threats. Officers pulled the driver over in a commercial parking lot near Cactus at Decatur.

The driver finally got out about 1:30 p.m., and police arrested him.

His identity was not immediately available.
