Stolen trailer, equipment still missing for Las Vegas search and rescue group

Over a month after a newly-formed search and rescue group had its trailer and equipment stolen, the items are still missing, Las Vegas police said Thursday.

On June 24, Metro responded to a call from the command post of Nevada South Search & Rescue, where a trailer with license plate No. 06281W was taken from a home near the intersection of West Lone Mountain Road and North Grand Canyon Drive, police said last month.

The 16-foot 2004, single-axle Mirage trailer contained two Polaris ATVs — one blue, the other yellow, group leader Rey Galjour said. He valued the stolen items at $15,000.

"We waited to see if maybe it turned up," Galjour said. "But it just doesn't seem to be coming back."

In a new GoFundMe account, the group is looking to raise $5,000 to replace the trailer.

The group suspects that someone driving a small red pickup took it, Galjour said, though police couldn't confirm that information.

Metro is asking anyone with information to contact the department at (702) 828-3111. To reach Nevada South Search & Rescue, call 702-850-0512, or visit www.nevadasouthsar.org.
