Suspected burglars cause wreck that injures 6 people, police say

Suspected burglars fleeing from police caused a wreck that sent six people to the hospital Friday afternoon in the north valley, Las Vegas police say.

Injuries to the people, who were taken to University Medical Center, were not considered life-threatening, Metro Sgt. Jeff Clark said.

Officers were dispatched at 1:13 p.m. to a burglary in a home in the 4100 block of Compass Rose Way, near the intersection of Alexander Road and Rainbow Boulevard, police say.

About 2 miles away, near the intersection of Rancho Drive and Gowan Road, an officer who had spotted the suspected burglars' vehicle tried stopping it, police say. The driver didn't stop, continued on Rancho and crashed about half a mile later at the Cheyenne Avenue intersection.

Two wrecked sport utility vehicles rested on the intersection's corner. It wasn't immediately clear whether the suspected burglars were among the six people hospitalized.

Clark said the investigation continues and charges are pending.
