Suspicious package prompts evacuation at Park Towers at Hughes Center

The north tower of the Park Towers at Hughes Center and a nearby building were evacuated while authorities investigate a suspicious package, Las Vegas police said.

Firefighters and police were called about 6:15 p.m to the multi-floor building, 1 Hughes Center Dr, near East Flamingo Road, Clark County Fire Department logs show. The building at 3993 Hughes Center, about 400 feet away, was also evacuated.

Metro’s armor unit investigated, Metro supervisor Lt. Dave Valenta said. The package turned out to be a “routine discarded bag,” he said.

The scene was cleared about 8:30 p.m., Valenta said.
