Threat prompts 30-minute lockdown at Sunrise Mountain High School

An east valley high school was locked down for 30 minutes Tuesday after a student received a threatening text message, according to Clark County School District police.

Sunrise Mountain High School at 2575 Los Feliz St. near North Hollywood Boulevard and East Carey Avenue set the lockdown in place around 2 p.m., school district police Capt. Ken Young said.

Young said a female student received a threatening text message from an unknown number. School police would not release the content of the message.

After searching the school for the person who had sent the message, police determined it was not credible. No other students received threatening text messages.

No students or faculty were injured, and the lockdown was lifted.
