Utah woman killed in I-15 rollover near Mesquite

A Utah woman was killed after a single-vehicle rollover on Interstate 15 near Mesquite on Saturday, the Nevada Highway Patrol said.

Ciara Jackson, 18, of Cedar City, was traveling south near mile marker 120 when a rear tire on her 1999 Ford Ranger failed about 8:26 a.m., the Highway Patrol said.

As the car moved off the edge of the roadway, Jackson steered too hard to the right, causing her pickup to roll over, the patrol said.

Jackson, who was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown from the car. She later was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 19-year-old male passenger sustained minor injuries.
