Woman dies after jumping off tower at Riviera

A woman died when she jumped from the 20th floor of a Riviera hotel-casino tower Sunday morning, Las Vegas police said.

First responders were called about 11:30 a.m. to the property, 2901 Las Vegas Boulevard South, according to Metro records. The woman died near a pool area where she landed, Metro Lt. Bruce Miyama said. Her death was classified a suicide.

The Riviera closed its doors after 60 years on May 4. A liquidation sale has been going on since May 14 and will continue to until everything is sold.

Multiple people reached out to the Review-Journal on social media and said the suicide happened during a liquidation sale and that some areas were closed off when it happened.
