Woman shot, killed in North Las Vegas

An argument led to a woman’s death after she was shot at a North Las Vegas apartment complex early Thursday morning, police said.

Officers were dispatched to Craig Ranch Villas apartments, near Casa Norte Drive and Commerce Street, about 2:30 a.m., police spokesman officer Steven Wiese said.

Multiple people were arguing in the parking lot near the entrance to the apartment complex, Wiese said, when things turned deadly.

Residents described hearing between six and eight gunshots followed by a woman screaming for help.

A 42-year-old woman had been shot, and police and emergency personnel arrived shortly after. She was taken to University Medical Center where she later died.

It was not clear what led to the argument or how it ended outside, Wiese said.

The shooting was “not a random act of violence,” Wiese said.

Police said they are still looking for the shooters, who fled before officers arrived.

This is the 12th homicide in North Las Vegas in 2014. The Clark County coroner’s office will release the identity of the deceased.

Anyone with information regarding the homicide can contact the North Las Vegas Police Department at 702-633-9111. To remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555.
