Young bicyclist critically injured in Summerlin crash

An 11-year-old bicyclist was critically injured in a crash Thursday morning, Las Vegas police said.

Police were dispatched to the area of Desert Sunrise Road and Vista Run Drive in Summerlin about 8:40 a.m., where a 2004 Mercedes-Benz had crashed into a boy riding a mountain bike.

The young bicyclist had been riding east across Vista Run Drive in a marked crosswalk when the Mercedes struck him, the Metropolitan Police Department said.

The 55-year-0ld driver stayed at the scene and did not show signs of impairment. Metro said.

The juvenile was taken to University Medical Center.
