KINGMAN, Ariz. — A Fort Mohave man has been arrested in the death of his girlfriend’s baby in Las Vegas.

Tyler Kirkpatrick, 20, was booked into the Mohave County jail Wednesday morning on child abuse and murder charges.

The Sheriff’s Office said 15-month old Kade Kryska died at Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center on Oct. 23, 2014. That was two days after his mother first transported her son to a northwestern Arizona hospital after returning home from work to discover he was having difficulty breathing.

Prosecutor Jacob Cote said an autopsy determined Kryska died of blunt force trauma injuries to his head and brain.

He said the investigation revealed that Kirkpatrick had care and custody of the child when the fatal injuries were inflicted and that the charging decision is bolstered by consultation with medical experts.
