Las Vegas-area technicians work long hours on July 4 fireworks

To produce the nine-minute Fourth of July fireworks shows set for 9 p.m. Tuesday at Green Valley Ranch Resort and Red Rock Resort, 10 technicians needed to work meticulously for three 10-hour days.

Pickleball popularity spreads among older Henderson residents

The city of Henderson debuted four dedicated pickleball courts April 24 at Whitney Mesa Recreation Area, 1661 Galleria Drive. It is the city’s fourth set of pickleball courts. “A lot of older people have told us pickleball has been more fun because of how fast-paced it is,” said James DiNicola, recreation services supervisor for the city of Henderson. “People that want to stay fit, who don’t necessarily want to play tennis, it gives them that excitement.”

 
Henderson might hear less airport noise under new FAA system

At least one Henderson resident is hopeful noise at McCarran International Airport will significantly decrease as the Federal Aviation Administration studies whether to modify flight paths as soon as December 2019 in what’s known as the Las Vegas Metroplex project.
