Nevada Women’s Lobby puts legislation affecting women and children on front burner

Cooking up legislative change that benefits women and children in Nevada takes more than an apron, if you ask members of the Nevada Women’s Lobby. The group and its sympathizers staged Mad Men Monday in full view during the last legislative session — donning pearls, dainty “Jackie O” white gloves, and the inimitable apron. They were making a point about archaic mindsets and “good bills that died early.” Not everyone appreciated the sarcasm.

North Las Vegas gallery event turns focus on gender equality

Teresa Bell, a 59-year-old League of Women Voters member, recalls the start of her postal service career in 1977 — when women were still considered an exotic species on the job. She and approximately 90 women, plus a few men, attended the discussion group Bursting Boundaries — Women of Vision April 16, presented by nonprofit Women of Diversity Productions Inc. at the Left of Center Gallery, 2207 W. Gowan Road.
