215 Beltway between Las Vegas Boulevard, McCarran reopened after closure

All lanes of the 215 Beltway at the Airport Connector are now open, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.
The 215 Beltway was closed in both directions near the airport Friday “out of an abundance of caution” after high winds moved plywood panels on the under-construction ramp that goes over the highway there, Clark County spokesman Dan Kulin said in a statement.
No material fell from the flyover ramp, but county inspectors and contractor representatives were concerned about the possibility of this occurring and had the highway closed at about 11:10 a.m, Kulin said.
The plywood serves as a temporary walkway so workers can walk on the ramp safely and easily during construction. The wind gusts broke additional supports and straps intended to hold the plywood in place, Kulin said.
Eastbound lanes reopened to traffic about 2:40 p.m.; westbound lanes reopened about 3 p.m.
Airport officials had recommended using Paradise or Russell roads to reach the airport due to traffic delays.
The National Weather Service issued a high wind advisory for Friday, with winds up to 50-60 mph forecast for some parts of the Las Vegas Valley.
The county contractor will be reviewing what occurred Friday in an effort to prevent it from happening again, Kulin said.
