The Clark County coroner’s office has identified the two who died after a crash in the central valley Thursday night.
Timothy Steele, a 61-year-old Las Vegas resident, and Kelly Murray, 55, residence unknown, died after the two-car collision near West Oakey and South Jones boulevards about 11:30 p.m. Thursday, according to Metropolitan Police Department spokeswoman Laura Meltzer.
Police said a sports car was heading west on Oakey when it was struck by a luxury car traveling south on Jones. The impact carried both vehicles onto the sidewalk on the southwest corner of the intersection, and both vehicles struck light poles, police said
Steele, who was driving the sports car, was pronounced dead at the scene. The second occupant, Murray later died at University Medical Center. Police said they were not wearing seat belts and were thrown from the car.
Two people who were in the luxury car were hospitalized with what police called serious injuries.
The intersection reopened at 7:15 a.m. Friday, Meltzer said.
These deaths mark the 117th and 118th traffic-related fatalities this year in Metro’s jurisdiction. The crash investigation is ongoing.
