Cool, dry Saturday; chance of showers returns Sunday

Though Las Vegas will see a cool, dry break on Saturday, the week's patchy precipitation will make a comeback Sunday, when a slight chance of showers returns and will linger into next week.

Friday saw a 39 degree morning low and a break in the clouds, but cloud cover is forecast to return Saturday. Through the weekend, the highs will be in the lower 50s and the lows will be in the upper 30s, which is "pretty close to normal," said Chris Outler, meteorologist with the National Weather Service.

Mount Charleston is likely to receive more snow over the weekend, with 1 to 3 inches expected to fall Sunday. Since Monday, Kyle Canyon recorded 26.8 inches of snow and Lee Canyon, where the ski resort is located, recorded 34 inches.

Winds are expected to remain "fairly light overall" through the weekend, Outler said.
