Cooler weather coming to Las Vegas Valley

Cooler conditions are expected in the Las Vegas Valley as the week progresses.

Forecast highs for Monday and Tuesday will be a little above normal at 98 degrees. The average high for this time of year is about 96 degrees, the National Weather Service said. Wednesday will follow with a 96-degree high before the valley cools down below normal.

By Thursday, the high is expected to be 90 degrees, according to the weather service. Friday’s high is forecast at 89 degrees.

A mix of sun and clouds is expected through Wednesday, meteorologist Barry Pierce said, with showers possible.

“We’ve got some areas of low pressure coming from the California coast that will drive our precipitation chances and the cooler conditions,” he said. “… It’s about 10 percent, so not a big chance, but we can’t rule it out.”

The low pressure system will create breezy conditions Tuesday and Wednesday, the weather service said. Tuesday’s winds could reach between 10 and 20 mph, while Wednesday could see gusts of up to 25 mph.
