Excessive-heat watch issued for weekend in Las Vegas Valley
Temperatures will be near normal on Friday before record-breaking temperatures move into the Las Vegas Valley this weekend, the National Weather Service said.
Friday will reach 102 degrees, which is normal for this time of the year, the weather service said. The forecast high will jump to 106 degrees by Saturday.
An excessive-heat watch will be in effect Sunday and Monday, said meteorologist John Adair. The 108-degree high both days could tie or break record temperatures.
The record temperature of 109 degrees for Aug. 27 was set in 2001. The 110-degree record high for Aug. 28 was set in 1944. The normal temperature for this time of year is 100 degrees, Adair said.
No rain is expected in the valley this weekend, the weather service said.
