First 90 degree day on the way

The Las Vegas Valley’s first 90 degree day of the year will arrive Wednesday, a couple weeks earlier than usual, the National Weather Service said.

That high isn’t usually reached until May, meteorologist John Salmen said.

Sunday saw a high of 78 degrees and a low of 60 degrees, he said.

This week is expected to be “really nice and pleasant,” Salmen said. No showers are expected, he said, adding the valley could see winds midweek of 10 miles per hour and possibly over 20 mph by Friday.

Temperatures are predicted to climb until Wednesday’s expected high of 90 degrees — 10 degrees above the seasonal average for that day, he said. Monday’s high is expected to be 81 degrees, while Tuesday will see a high of 87 degrees.

The end of the week will be cooler, with highs in the 80s.
