Getting warm in Las Vegas but cool front moving in this weekend

Before a weekend storm front brings cooler temperatures and higher winds, Las Vegas is expecting the hottest day yet of 2016.

Wednesday’s high is expected to be 91 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. Before Wednesday, the hottest day of the year was April 5, when temperatures reached 85 degrees, National Weather Service meteorologist Justin Pullin said. Wednesday’s temperature will be about 10 degrees hotter than average for the date, Pullin said.

Thursday’s high also is expected to be 91 degrees. Friday should have a high of 85 degrees, which will cool down as the weather disturbance moves into the valley, Pullin said. Saturday’s high will drop to 76 degrees.

Although the front is unlikely to bring rain, Pullin said cooler temperatures and windy conditions are expected. Wind gusts between 20 and 30 mph should start Friday afternoon, but will drop off Saturday. The cooler temperatures will stick around for the next few days, National Weather Service meteorologist John Adair said.
