Las Vegas Valley weather will be calm, clear through Saturday

The next chance for rain in the valley will come Sunday night. Until then, Las Vegas can expect to see calm, sunny, warm weather.

Temperatures Thursday afternoon should reach a mild 63 degrees before they drop to 44 degrees at night, according to the National Weather Service.

High clouds will hang around the valley Friday and will increase into the evening, said meteorologist Caleb Steele. The forecasted high for Friday is 66 degrees, and nighttime temperatures are expected to slip into the upper 40s.

Saturday will be breezy with winds about 20 mph and a high temperature of 68 degrees. Winds are expected to kick up overnight as a storm system moves in from the northwest, Steele said.

Temperatures on Sunday will drop 11 degrees, Steele said. The forecasted high for the afternoon is 57 degrees, but it will feel even cooler with wind gusts of 30 to 35 mph. The best chance the valley has for precipitation — about 60 percent — will be on Sunday night.

"We know the system is going to hit the Sierras pretty hard," Steele said.

A band of rain and snow is expected to sweep over the mountains about 230 miles west of Las Vegas before heading east.

"The models are pretty wishy-washy after that," he said. "We don't have the best idea of how much it'll drop or where."
