Scattered showers over weekend shouldn’t dampen Las Vegas New Year’s Eve
The Las Vegas Valley will see scattered showers over the next few days, but the rain won’t put a damper on New Year’s Eve, according to the National Weather Service.
The valley saw a high of 52 degrees Friday and a “trace” of rain throughout the afternoon, meteorologist John Adair said. Lee Canyon added an inch of snow, Adair said.
The storm system will start to pass over on New Year’s Eve, with a forecast high of 54 degrees and a 20 percent chance for scattered showers up until midnight.
The Clark County Department of Air Quality has issued an advisory for smoke due to holiday fireworks. The advisory is in effect from Saturday night through Sunday morning. The smoke could be harmful for people with respiratory illnesses such as asthma.
New Year’s Day will be dry and a little warmer, with a forecast high of 57 degrees. The week will start with a an expected high of 53 degrees for Monday.
Temperatures are expected to drop next week. Come Thursday, the valley will see temperatures in the low 20s, Adair said.
