Strong winds, chance of rain in Las Vegas this week

The Las Vegas Valley is expected to experience strong winds, a chance of rain and low temperatures at the start of the week, according to the National Weather Service.

Monday is expected to be partly cloudy with a high temperature of 73 degrees and a low of 48 degrees. There’s a 20 percent chance of showers in the mountains that may spread into the valley, the weather service said.

A high wind warning has been released for Monday, with 10-20 mph winds in the morning growing to 25-35 mph in the afternoon, with gusts up to 50 mph.

Tuesday and Wednesday will be considerably colder, with high temperatures in the 60s and lows in the 40s.

The cool down stems from a low pressure system over the Northwest diving into Nevada, the weather service said.
