Warm and sunny for holiday weekend in Las Vegas

The three-day Presidents Day weekend kicked off with continued warm temperatures and sunny skies, according to the National Weather Service.

Saturday saw a high of 75 degrees and is expected to have a low of 47 degrees, the weather service siad.

Sunday is forecast to be 73 degrees, making for a mild Valentine's Day.

However, winds are expected to kick up this weekend to 10 to 15 mph in most of the valley with "pockets of gusts up to 20 mph," meteorologist Jim Harrison said.

The valley may see "some high passing clouds," but it is expected to remain "mostly sunny," meteorologist Mike Paddock said.

Good news for couples seeking a romantic Valentine's Day getaway or anyone hoping to take advantage of Red Rock Canyon National Recreation Area's free weekend: There is "no chance for a while" for rain in the valley, Paddock said.

The valley has a chance of breaking the record-high low temperature for Monday's date, Harrison said. The record-high low temperature for that day is 52 degrees, and the forecast temperature is 51, he added.
