This weekend’s 5 best bets for Vegas entertainment

Charli XCX

Worried about whether a pop singer fond of naked Instagrams and telling Twitter followers she is “so OVER wearing underwear” can work a crowd with her clothes on? (Or at least some of them?) Just ask anyone who was at the unseasonably chilly Rock in Rio last year. Or show up for her next outdoor gig at 10 p.m. Friday at the Downtown Las Vegas Events Center. Tickets are $21.30 to $33.15; call 800-745-3000.

Sarah Silverman

Sarah Silverman found those Bernie loyalists to be a tough crowd at the Democratic National Convention. But she’s sure to have a united electoral block and a few things to say about a certain Donald J. Trump in a stand-up show at 8 p.m. Friday in the “Ka” theater at the MGM Grand. Tickets are $64.45 to $97.14; call 800-745-3000.

The Fray

If that big Chainsmokers hit “Closer” made you think of The Fray’s signature song “Over My Head (Cable Car),” don’t worry. Turns out The Fray got a cut of the writing credits. The earnest band fronted by Isaac Slade plays The Foundry inside SLS Las Vegas on Saturday, with American Authors opening at 7 p.m. Tickets are $51.78; call 800-745-3000.

Norm Macdonald

Will Mike Tyson be able to drop by the South Point and say hello to his “Mike Tyson Mysteries” co-star this weekend? The fact that Macdonald voices a cartoon pigeon is only a little less weird than the fact that his new book, “Based on a True Story: A Memoir,” isn’t. It’s more a gonzo satire, but does involve Vegas. See him at 7:30 p.m. Friday through Sunday. Tickets are $35 to $45; call 702-797-8055.

Bobby Slayton

As the “Pitbull of Comedy,” Bobby Slayton specializes in crowd work, and he sure knows how to work this particular room. Back in 2009, before it was the Laugh Factory at the Tropicana, Slayton solo headlined the venue for the better part of a year. The Vegas veteran is back for an encore at 8:30 and 10:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday. Tickets are $37.90 to $55.45; call 702-739-2411.
