ROUNDUP: Leong lifts Roadrunner boys to Sunrise title
Tech’s Dallas Leong rolled a 269 game inside a 726 series Thursday to lead the Roadrunners’ boys bowling team to a 9-0 victory over Green Valley, capturing the Sunrise Region title at The Orleans.
Tech advances to Friday’s state final, where the Roadrunners will meet Sunset Region champion Shadow Ridge.
Jameson Payton had a 237 game inside a 677 series for Shadow Ridge, which was a 7-2 winner over Centennial in the Sunset final.
GIRLS
Arbor View’s Andie Szekely rolled a tournament-best 259 game to lead the Aggies to a 9-0 victory over Cimarron-Memorial for the Sunset Region girls title.
Szekely also posted a tournament-best 708 series for Arbor View, which faces Sunrise Region champ Liberty in the state final on Friday.
Liberty advanced with a 9-0 victory over Basic.
The Patriots posted the tournament’s best team series with 2,193 pins.
