ROUNDUP: Bonanza slips past Clark

Clark’s Jacob Naylor won on a 2.5-mile course in 14 minutes, 20 seconds Wednesday, but the host Chargers boys cross country team was edged by Bonanza.

Gavin Kakol finished second in 14:48 to lead the Bengals, who scored 32 points to beat Clark (33) and Bishop Gorman (55).
Gorman’s Julian Jalani was third in 15:06.

Hartle leads Centennial to win
At Indian Springs, Centennial’s Nick Hartle won on a 3.1-mile course in 17:04 to lead the Bulldogs to 24 points and a win over Arbor View (33), Cheyenne (86) and Indian Springs (90).

Arbor View’s Greg Marschik took second in 17:32. Scott Albright of Centennial took third in 18:04.

Longhorns top Crusaders, Spartans
At The Meadows, Legacy scored 35 points to beat Faith Lutheran (48) and Cimarron-Memorial (58) despite placing no runners in the top four.

Cimarron’s Sam Mayo won on the 2.7-mile course in 15:40. He was followed by Faith Lutheran’s Anthony Ponticello (16:04) and Al Sprace (17:13).

Valley wins meet
At Valley, Sunrise Mountain’s Sergio Guitierrez-Ortega took first place with a time of 17:13, but the next nine finishers were all Vikings, led by Terry Thornock in second (17:25) and Chris Kellogg (17:42).

Moapa Valley tops Las Vegas, Eldorado
At Las Vegas, the Pirates had six of the top 10 runners on the way to 21 points and a win over Las Vegas (47) and Eldorado (55).

Moapa Valley’s Josh Thompson won the 2.56-mile race in 16:56. He was followed by teammate Chase Witter (17:28) and Eldorado’s Collin Abbot (17:34) in third.

Spring Valley beats Sierra Vista, Western
At Sierra Vista, the Grizzlies had six of the top 10 runners to post 27 points and a win over Sierra Vista (32) and Western (75).

Spring Valley’s Mark Gerber won the 2.5-mile race in 14:47. He was followed by Sierra Vista’s Davawn Price (15:12) and Alex Morataya (15:14) in third.
