CROSS COUNTRY: Free helps Patriot girls claim Northeast League meet

Skyler Free won a 3.1-mile race in 19 minutes, 57.2 seconds Tuesday at Sonata Park to lead Liberty’s girls cross country team to victory in a Northeast League meet.

The Patriots had four of the top five finishers and had a team total of 24 points. Silverado was second with 54, followed by Valley with 65 and Las Vegas with 101.

Liberty’s Syndey Groom was second in 21:20.5.

Silverado’s Alexis Reynolds took third in 21:34.2.

Silverado wins Northeast meet

Vinny Butera finished third in a 3.1-mile race in 16:26.6, and teammate Asimwe Oben-Nyarko was fourth in 16:38.2 to help Silverado win a Northeast League meet.

The Skyhawks had a team score of 35. Las Vegas was second with 46, followed by Liberty with 54 and Valley with 93.

Valley’s Josh Nyberg won the race in 16:01.0.

Las Vegas’ Miguel Ramirez finished second in 16:16.6.
