HEAD OF THE CLASS: Arbor View’s Butler helps Aggies to tourney title

BOYS BASKETBALL

The senior guard was named the Most Valuable Player of the Legacy Tip-Off Classic. Butler averaged 20 points, 5.4 rebounds, 3.4 steals and 2.8 assists in the tournament to lead the Aggies to the title.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Bobbi Floyd

Clark

The junior forward had 34 points and 17 rebounds in a 71-48 win over Clark.

FOOTBALL

Randall Cunningham

Bishop Gorman

The senior quarterback rushed for 213 yards and four touchdowns in Gorman’s 48-14 win over Reed for the school’s fifth consecutive state title. Cunningham had TD runs of 12, 22, 28 and 11 yards and also threw a 27-yard TD pass.

The senior went 8-0 on the week, and recorded four pins at the Green Valley Duals, to improve his record to 17-0 on the season.

The senior running back rushed for 308 yards and four touchdowns in a 40-24 victory over Cheyenne.

HEAD OF THE CLASS

ARBOR VIEW — Girls basketball player Ariona Gill had 20 points, five steals, four blocked shots and four assists in a win over Desert Oasis.

BONANZA — Boys basketball player DeAndre Hicks averaged 13 points and five steals in wins over Pahrump Valley and Western.

BOULDER CITY — Wrestler Jackson Dunagan went 7-0 for the week at 220 pounds. Flag football player Paige Buettner had 24 tackles and a sack in two games, and also rushed for 52 yards, a touchdown and scored on an extra point in an overtime win over Silverado.

CANYON SPRINGS — Girls basketball player Alexia Thrower had 22 points, 15 rebounds and five steals in a 75-32 win over Eldorado.

CENTENNIAL — Boys basketball player Eddie Davis had 17 points and 14 rebounds in an 81-71 victory over Palo Verde. Girls basketball player Tramina Jordan had 16 points in a 65-21 win over Palo Verde.

CLARK — Wrestler Michael Hervis won all of his matches by pin at the Charger Duals.

CORONADO — Flag football player Kylie Keyer scored two TDs against Green Valley.

DESERT OASIS — Boys basketball player Jay Esguerra averaged 7.3 points and 6.1 assists in four games. Flag football quarterback Kylee Bauer passed for 16 touchdowns in five games, leading the Diamondbacks to a 4-1 record.

FAITH LUTHERAN — Girls basketball player Dani Tharaldson had 20 points against Bishop Gorman and 19 points against Carson. Boys basketball player Clayton Holthaus averaged 12 points and 6.2 rebounds in four games.

THE MEADOWS — Boys basketball player Eric Hirsberg averaged 15 points in leading the Mustangs to a 5-1 record and second-place finish at the Lake Mead Holiday Classic.

PALO VERDE — Wrestler Kayden Pierson went 5-0 with five pins at the Green Valley Duals. Bowler Holly Lemay had a 506 series against Shadow Ridge and a 579 series against Arbor View. Lemay rolled a 236 game against the Aggies.

RANCHO — Flag football quarterback Chanel Eliason led the Rams to five wins, passing for more than 300 yards and rushing for more than 500.

SILVERADO — Boys basketball player Joe Baldi averaged 23.5 points, 4 rebounds and 2.5 assists in wins over Virgin Valley and Del Sol. Girls basketball player Deja Siaki had a total of 34 points and 15 rebounds in two games.

TECH — Girls basketball player Jasmine Haywood averaged 13 points and 12.5 rebounds in wins over Mojave and Sierra Vista.
