HEAD OF THE CLASS: Durango’s Arias, Chavez lead Trailblazers to upset wins over Arbor View

The senior forward had 24 points, 13 rebounds and four assists as the Trailblazers beat Arbor View, 71-69. It was the Aggies’ first loss to a Nevada team this season.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

The junior forward had 19 points, 12 rebounds, six steals, four blocked shots and three assists as the Trailblazers defeated Arbor View, 40-39. It was the first Northwest League loss for the Aggies since Feb. 8, 2012.

FLAG FOOTBALL

Sierra Vista

The sophomore quarterback passed for 458 yards and five TDs in victories over Durango and Cheyenne.

ARBOR VIEW — Flag football player Shakira Conley has averaged 13.8 tackles in the last seven games.

BISHOP GORMAN — Boys basketball player Stephen Zimmerman averaged 25 points, 11 rebounds and four blocked shots in wins over Cimarron-Memorial and Desert Oasis.

BONANZA — Girls basketball player Sianna Nelson had 11 points and 16 rebounds in a 56-52 win over Desert Oasis, and added 10 rebounds in a 69-20 loss to Centennial.

CENTENNIAL — Boys basketball player Khalil Thompson had 18 points in a 66-52 win over Desert Oasis. Girls basketball player Tramina Jordan had 18 points in a 63-21 victory over Desert Oasis.

CHAPARRAL — Boys basketball player Maharie Trotter had 14 rebounds in a 53-49 victory over Boulder City.

CIMARRON-MEMORIAL — Girls basketball player Shauntel Efferson had a total of 21 points, 12 rebounds and two steals in two games. Wrestler Logan Taylor had pins at 170 pounds in wins over Liberty and Basic.

CLARK — Flag football player Sabrina Luz ran for three touchdowns and passed for another in three games.

GREEN VALLEY — Girls basketball player Brooke Haney had a total of 21 points and eight steals in victories over Valley and Silverado.

LEGACY — Wrestler Kyler Atkinson finished the regular season with 117 career wins including 52 pins.

LIBERTY — Girls basketball player Paris Strawther averaged 17 points and 10 rebounds in victories over Coronado and Del Sol.

PALO VERDE — Girls basketball player Nallah Thomas-McDade had a total of 23 points in wins over Sierra Vista and Spring Valley. Boys basketball player Braxton Richard had a total of 27 points in wins over Sierra Vista and Spring Valley.

SIERRA VISTA — Boys bowler Joseph Ongtawco finished the season with a 190.4 average and led the team to its first playoff berth.
