BASEBALL: Ladeira delivers walk-off home run for Bonanza

Casey Ladeira homered on the first pitch of the bottom of the seventh inning Monday to give Bonanza’s baseball team a 9-8 win over visiting Palo Verde.

The Bengals were in a position to win the game after Matthew Montano came on in relief in the top of the seventh to pitch out of bases-loaded, no-out jam without allowing a run.

Montano struck out the first batter he faced, then induced a double play grounder to end the threat.

Spencer Faught had two doubles and four RBIs to lead Bonanza. Ladeira finished with two RBIs.

Will Hamilton tripled, and Trevor Jackson doubled for the Panthers.

Liberty 8, Green Valley 2 — At Green Valley, Nick Rush and Preston Pavlica each had a solo homer to help the Patriots beat the Gators.

Rush was 2-for-3 with two runs, and Pavlica was 2-for-4 with two runs.

Bailey Daguio went the distance, allowing no earned runs on seven hits, to get the win. He struck out nine with no walks.

Green Valley’s Blake Inouye was 3-for-3, and teammate Gavin Morley was 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Las Vegas 3, Eldorado 1 — At Eldorado, Andrew Aleman drove in the go-ahead run with an RBI double in the top of the seventh to lift the Wildcats over the Sundevils.

Aleman came home on a throwing error for the final margin.

Diego Delgado picked up the win for the Wildcats, pitching 3 2/3 hitless innings of relief and striking out two.

Cimarron-Memorial 13, Basic 6 — At Basic, Trevor Lippard was 2-for-4 with four RBIs to help the Spartans over the Wolves.

Tyler Giovinco was 3-for-5 with three runs, and Niko Decolati, Adam Mitchell and Trent Bixby each added two hits for Cimarron.

Decolati and Mitchell each scored three runs, and Bixby had two runs and two RBIs.

Roger Riley went 3-for-3 to lead Basic, and teammate Logan Green was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs.

Silverado 7, Rancho 1 — At Rancho, Kevin Pindel tossed a five-hitter to lead the Skyhawks by the Rams.

Pindel struck out five and didn’t allow an earned run.

Dillon Johnson went 3-for-5 with a run, and Michael Camburn, Payton Ballard and Alex Grafiada each added two hits for Silverado.

Coronado 12, Canyon Springs 0 — At Coronado, Anthony Olheiser went 3-for-4 with an RBI as the Cougars topped the Pioneers in five innings.

Donte Glover was 1-for-3 with a triple, two runs and three RBIs for Coronado, which scored five runs in the first and six in the fourth.

Sean Hofmans and Dane Wasden combined on a four-hitter for the Cougars.

Foothill 16, Valley 0 — At Foothill, Anthony Pannullo went 2-for-3 with two runs and three RBIs, and the Falcons used an 11-run third inning to rout the Vikings in five innings.

Winning pitcher Trenton Price combined with Spencer Throgmorton on a one-hitter. Price was 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI for Foothill.

Andrew Hauck was 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI for the Falcons, who had 11 players score at least one run.

Pahrump Valley 12, Virgin Valley 3 — At Pahrump, the Trojans led 7-0 after three innings and rolled past the Bulldogs.

Shelton Cajudoy was 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs to lead Pahrump, which had seven hits and took advantage of five Virgin Valley errors.

Chaparral 20, Western 1 — At Western, Sky Espinosa, Mark O’Connor and Connor Jarvis combined on a no-hitter as the Cowboys beat the Warriors in five innings.

Jarvis went 3-for-3 with three runs and four RBIs, and Erick Villareal was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs for Chaparral.
