BASEBALL: Loeffler scores on wild pitch, lifts Spartans by Mustangs

Noah Loeffler scored the winning run on a wild pitch with one out in the bottom of the seventh inning Saturday as Cimarron-Memorial’s baseball team rallied for a 3-2 win over visiting Shadow Ridge.

The Spartans carried a 1-0 lead into the seventh before the Mustangs’ Kyle Gaura hit a two-out, two-run double to center field, plating Bryson Barnes and Koby Millner to give Shadow Ridge a 2-1 lead.

Cimarron, which had only two hits through six innings, battled back in the bottom of the seventh.

Justin Cuddeback drew a walk to lead off the inning, and Loeffler and Trevor Doyle had consecutive bunt singles to load the bases with no outs.

Derek Decolati singled to left field to plate Cuddeback with the tying run.

After a strikeout, Loeffler raced home when Jesse Meyer’s 2-and-2 pitch to Cimarron’s Luis Flores got away.

Barnes was 3-for-3 for Shadow Ridge.

Diego Cardoso went the distance on a seven-hitter and struck out six for the Spartans.

Arbor View 11, Durango 2 — At Durango, Nick Quintana, Joe Fitzhugh, Ryan McHale and Logan Santos hit consecutive home runs in the first inning as the Aggies downed the Trailblazers.

Trevor Jackson belted a two-run home run, also in the first inning, for Arbor View.

Quintana went 3-for-5 with a double and two runs. Fitzhugh was 2-for-3.

Brady Borden, Talon Hill and Cody Ferguson combined on a five-hitter. Both Durango runs were unearned.

Centennial 7, Desert Oasis 1 — At Centennial, Frank Sessa went 2-for-3 with a home run and four RBIs to help the Bulldogs top the Diamondbacks.

Garrett Holden and winning pitcher Jake Rogers had consecutive RBI doubles in the fifth inning to break a 1-1 tie, and Sessa added a three-run homer in a four-run sixth inning for Centennial.

Holden and Rogers each went 2-for-4 with an RBI, and Kyle Horton was 2-for-3 with a double, three runs and an RBI for Centennial.

Rogers threw a three-hitter.

Cole Schaefer went 1-for-4 with an RBI for Desert Oasis.

Bishop Gorman 3-1, Santa Margarita (Calif.) 2-6 — At Gorman, Myles Denson had two hits in the opener as the Gaels split a doubleheader with the Eagles.

Santa Margarita’s Alec Telles and Colin Rowe combined on a three-hitter in the nightcap. Bryce Ruggeroli had a hit and drove in Gorman’s run in the finale.

Pahrump Valley 11, Cheyenne Mountain (Colo.) 7 — At Pahrump, Anthony Charles went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI to help the Trojans down the Indians.

Willie Lucas and winning pitcher Drew Walker each had two RBIs for Pahrump, which scored eight runs in the first inning.
