BASEBALL: Mustangs score five in seventh to down Arbor View

Chris Opolka walked and came around to score the go-ahead run on an error with no outs in the top of the seventh inning as Shadow Ridge’s baseball team topped host Arbor View 13-8 on Thursday.

Tyler Burton added an RBI double, and Eric Jordan had a run-scoring triple in a five-run seventh inning for the Mustangs.

Jordan was 2-for-4 with a home run and four RBIs, and Dustin McDonald was 2-for-3 with two doubles, two runs and an RBI for the Mustangs.

Ryan McHale was 1-for-2 with a home run and two RBIs, and Nick Quintana was 1-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs for third-ranked Arbor View, which suffered its second loss in as many days.

Las Vegas 6, Foothill 2 — At Las Vegas, the Wildcats scored three runs without a hit in the first inning en route to the win over the Falcons.

Winning pitcher Mikel Smith went the distance, allowing one earned run on three hits with four strikeouts.

Jaime Solis and Antonio Gaxiola each had a double for Las Vegas, which scored three runs in the second inning.

Silverado 14, Valley 0 — At Silverado, Chase Cortez went 2-for-3 with a triple, two runs scored and an RBI, and Vincent Taormina went 2-for-3 with a double, two runs and an RBI as the Skyhawks blanked the Vikings in five innings.

Dillon Johnson was 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI, and Mitchell Ballard added a triple for Silverado, which scored nine runs in the third inning.

Winning pitcher James Skelly allowed two hits and struck out three in three innings.

Liberty 10, Canyon Springs 0 — At Canyon Springs, four pitchers combined on a one-hitter as the Patriots routed the Pioneers in five innings.

Trevor Mullaney struck out four over the first two innings. Jonny Gilleres allowed Canyon Springs’ only hit, a double by Roey Sellouk, while striking out two in his inning of work. Jake DiGregorio and August Reich each struck out one in the fourth and fifth innings.

Nick Rush went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer, Gilleres was 2-for-2 with two doubles and a RBI, and Lucas Bogues was 2-for-2 for the Patriots.

Bishop Gorman 10, Durango 0 — At Durango, Matt Hudgins went 2-for-2 with a home run, two runs and two RBIs as the Gaels topped the Trailblazers in six innings.

Austin Wells went 2-for-3 with a double, two runs and an RBI, and Antonio Rainone and Beau Capanna each went 2-for-3 for Gorman.

Joey Shawhan was 2-for-2 with a triple for Durango.

Palo Verde 10, Legacy 0 — At Palo Verde, Sam Powers tossed a five-inning four-hitter and struck out five and went 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs to lead the Panthers by the Longhorns.

Jerron Largusa went 2-for-2 with a home run, a double and three RBIs, and Mitchell Rathbun was 2-for-3 with a home run, two runs and three RBIs for Palo Verde.

Centennial 8, Coronado 4 — At Coronado, winning pitcher Kyle Horton went 3-for-4 with a double and four RBIs to lead the Bulldogs by the Cougars.

Jake Portaro was 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs, and Jake Rogers went 2-for-3 with a home run for Centennial.

Donte Glover was 2-for-3 with a double, and Sterling Saltz added a solo home run for Coronado.

Chaparral 9, Moapa Valley 5 — At Overton, Robert O’Connor went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run to help the Cowboys defeat the Pirates.

Tyler Crone tossed a complete game and added two hits, two runs and an RBI for Chaparral.

Chaz Cornwall had two hits, an RBI and a run for Moapa Valley, which also got two hits from Drake Staheli.

Del Sol 14, Sunrise Mountain 0 — At Del Sol, Jorge Costa tossed a five-inning two-hitter and struck out three as the Dragons blanked the Miners.

Dylan Aguirre was 3-for-3 with a double and two RBIs, and Jason Rolland was 2-for-2 with a double and two RBIs for Del Sol, which scored eight runs in the fourth inning.

Kordell Bowie went 2-for-3 with two RBIs, and Phil Talamo was 2-for-3 with an RBI for Del Sol.

Virgin Valley 8, Desert Pines 5 — At Desert Pines, Alec Brandes went 2-for-4 with a double, and the Bulldogs took advantage of six errors to defeat the Jaguars.

Lake Mead 21, Adelson School 11 — At River Mountain Park, Julien Korastinsky was 3-for-4 with two doubles, four runs and three RBIs as the Eagles rallied from an 8-0 deficit to beat the Lions in six innings.

Noah Tassi was 3-for-4 with two runs and three RBIs, and Brandon Parry went 2-for-3 with three RBIs for Lake Mead, which took advantage of 16 walks.

Jacob Justiana was 2-for-3 with three RBIs, and Oscar Chaltiel went 2-for-4 with two RBIs for Adelson.
