BASEBALL: Skelly leads Patriots past Cougars

Dan Skelly fired a two-hitter and also drove in two runs as Liberty’s baseball team blanked Coronado 6-0 on Wednesday.

Skelly finished with nine strikeouts and had two of the Patriots’ six hits.

Jesse Keiser went 2-for-3 with two runs, and Preston Pavlica went 1-for-3 with two RBIs for Liberty, which scored three times in the bottom of the fifth inning to take a 5-0 lead.

Foothill 13, Eldorado 6 — At Foothill, Collin Dobrolecki and Nick Cardinale each went 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs to lead the Falcons over the Sundevils.

Ryan Moyes was 3-for-5 with two runs and an RBI, and Bligh Madris had a solo home run for Foothill, which saw its lead get trimmed to 7-6 in the top of the sixth.

The Falcons answered with six runs in the bottom of the inning to pull away. Tyler Van Stone threw 1 2/3 hitless innings with four strikeouts to get the save.

Don Dimaggio went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs for Eldorado.

Basic 5, Del Sol 2 — At Basic, Tanner Roundy was 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBIs and a run and pitched a scoreless seventh to get the save as the Wolves topped the Dragons.

Taylor Ferdinand allowed one earned run on six hits and struck out six in six innings to get the win.

Skyler Mahoney went 2-for-3 with a double and a run for Basic.

Bishop Gorman 18, Legacy 2 — At Legacy, Brandon Wulff went 2-for-3 with a home run, a triple and three RBIs, and the Gaels banged out 11 extra-base hits in a five-inning victory over the Longhorns.

Cole Krzmarzick had two doubles, and Cadyn Grenier and Matt Hudgins each supplied a triple for Gorman. Michael Blasko, Austin Cram, Antonio Rainone, Andrew Newson and Chris Robinson all doubled for the Gaels.

Garret Christiansen had a double for Legacy.

Centennial 13, Cimarron-Memorial 4 — At Centennial, Will Loucks was 4-for-4 with a triple and three RBIs to lead the Bulldogs over the Spartans.

Cooper Powell was 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI and also picked up the win, allowing three earned runs on five hits while going the distance.

Tanner Wright was 2-for-4 with a triple and three RBIs, and Hayden Grant went 2-for-3 with two RBIs for Centennial.

Cimarron’s Ryan McHale had a three-run homer in the fourth inning to cut the Bulldogs’ lead to 4-3.

Bonanza 7, Desert Oasis 4 — At Desert Oasis, the Bengals scored five runs in the top of the fifth inning to slip past the Diamondbacks.

An infield single and two bunt singles loaded the bases to start the inning for Bonanza, and Cruz Nevarez hit a two-run double to tie the score at 4-4. Casey Ladeira’s sacrifice fly gave the Bengals the lead, and they tacked on two insurance runs.

Nevarez went 3-for-4 with three RBIs, and Alec Taft was 3-for-4 with a double and two runs for Bonanza. Ladeira, Frankie Valle, Chris Dunn and Micah Higa each added two hits for the Bengals.

Dominic Paratore went 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI for Desert Oasis.

Shadow Ridge 9, Wooster 5 — At Shadow Ridge, Brady Hoskins went 2-for-3 with a home run, a triple, two runs and three RBIs to help the Mustangs stop the Colts.

Chris Opolka was 4-for-4 with a double and an RBI, and Tyler Burton went 3-for-3 for Shadow Ridge, which led 9-0 after two innings.

Chris Watts went 2-for-2, and Colton Duminie supplied a double for Wooster.

Las Vegas 12, Wooster 2 — At Las Vegas, winning pitcher Jose Sanchez went 4-for-4 with a triple, four runs and four RBIs as the Wildcats whipped the Colts in five innings.

Sanchez allowed four hits and had five strikeouts. Eddie Ojeda was 3-for-4 with a triple and two RBIs for Las Vegas, which led 9-0 after three innings.

Watts had a double for Wooster.

Arbor View 8, Northridge (Colo.) 3 — At Arbor View, three pitchers combined on a five-hitter with 12 strikeouts and no walks as the Aggies downed the Grizzlies.

Kevin Johns got the victory, allowing one earned run on two hits in four innings. Johns struck out five.

Ryan Brown gave up an unearned run on two hits in two innings with four strikeouts. Brady Borden struck out the side and allowed an unearned run on one hit in the seventh.

Quin Gallagher was 2-for-3 with two RBIs to lead Arbor View’s offense. Sid Cutting went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI, and Max Jungblut was 2-for-2 for the Aggies.

Canyon Springs 12, Desert Pines 7 — At Canyon Springs, Erick Espinosa went 2-for-5 with a triple and four RBIs, and Isiah Carter was 2-for-2 with a triple and three runs to help the Pioneers outlast the Jaguars.

Zack Gardner was 3-for-3 with three runs, and Jordan Gainey went 2-for-4 with a double for Canyon Springs.

Jose Avelino went 3-for-3 with a double for Desert Pines, and teammate Iquan Corsey led off the game with a first-pitch home run.

Faith Lutheran 18, Western 0 — At Western, Erich Uelmen tossed a five-inning no-hitter and was 3-for-4 with a double, a triple and three RBIs as the Crusaders blanked the Warriors.

Uelmen yielded his lone walk in the fourth inning.

Logan Etherington went 4-for-4 with three runs and an RBI, and Greg Sylvester had two doubles, three runs and three RBIs for Faith Luthern, which exploded for 12 runs in the fourth inning.

Mojave 23, Cheyenne 10 — At Cheyenne, Tyson Goodrich finished 3-for-5 with three doubles, four runs and six RBIs as the Rattlers routed the Desert Shields.

Chase Anderson was 4-for-6 with two doubles and two RBIs, and Alex Smith had three hits and three RBIs for Mojave, which scored eight runs in the second inning and 12 runs in the sixth.

Brian Corder went 3-for-4 and scored three runs, and Orestes Marquetti had two doubles for Cheyenne.

Tech 7, Moapa Valley 1 — At Silver Bowl Park, Abel Martinez tossed a four-hitter with 11 strikeouts and added two hits, two RBIs and a run to propel the Roadrunners past the Pirates.

Zach West, Chandler Gehring and Jayce Otis each had two hits for Tech.

Pahrump Valley 14, Clark 2 — At Clark, the Trojans defeated the Chargers in five innings.
