LIONS TOURNEY: Paratore ekes out win on mound, plate for Diamondbacks

Dillon Krasn hit a sacrifice fly in the top of the third inning to score Joe Paratore with the go-ahead run, and Desert Oasis’ baseball team held on to beat Canyon Crest (Calif.), 2-1, in the Mike Morrow Lions Tournament in San Diego on Tuesday.

Paratore earned the complete-game win for the Diamondbacks, allowing five hits while striking out seven and walking one.

Green Valley 14, Poway (Calif.) 10 — the Gators broke a 6-6 tie with eight runs in the top of the sixth, but had to hold on after Poway responded with four runs in the bottom of the inning.

Evan Van Hoosier and Brett Harrison both homered for the Gators, who also saw an early 4-0 lead slip away.

Zach Vergiels went 3-for-4 and Bobby Shiroky batted 3-for-5 with two RBIs for Green Valley. Van Hoosier finished 2-for-4 with three runs scored, and Scott Arn was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs for the Gators.

McLean (Calif.) 11, Silverado 10 — At San Diego, Josh Sborz homered and Sean Fitzgerald doubled and tripled to help the Highlanders edge the Skyhawks.

Sborz also notched the save for the Highlanders.

A.J. Ford homered, doubled and drove in three runs for Silverado.
