ROUNDUP: Schuster, Kartler help Spring Valley punch playoff ticket

Josh Schuster and Tyler Kartler each had two hits, scored three runs and drove in three more runs Thursday as Spring Valley’s baseball team clinched a spot in the Sunset Region playoffs with a 13-3, five-inning win over visiting Clark in five innings.

Jose Rosales-Rodarte was 2-for-3 with two runs for Spring Valley, which ended the game by scoring five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Drew LaComb tossed a five-hitter, allowing three unearned runs and striking out six.

Desert Oasis 11, Western 0 — At Western, Zane Killebrew pitched a two-hit shutout, and Matt Garrett went 3-for-4 with two RBIs to lead the Diamondbacks past the Warriors.

Brennen Stott was 2-for-5 with four RBIs, and Joe Paratore went 3-for-5 with an RBI for Desert Oasis.

Bonanza 11, Pahrump Valley 1 — At Pahrump, Kris Bryant hit his 19th and 20th home runs of the season and finished 2-for-3 with four RBIs to lead the Bengals in a rout of the Trojans.

Dominick Jeppi pitched a five-hitter, and Sterling Sprau was 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI for Bonanza.

Jarret Holley went 2-for-3 with a double for Pahrump.

Shadow Ridge 13, Cimarron-Memorial 2 — At Cimarron, Josh Roelofs went 3-for-4 with two doubles and three RBIs to help the Mustangs rout the Spartans in five innings.

Colt Stout, Brandon Show, Michael Wager and Sean Hobbs added two hits apiece for Shadow Ridge.

Nathan Hale and Kevin Dorantes each had two hits for Cimarron.

Legacy 9, Centennial 1 — At Legacy, winning pitcher Joey Lauria went 3-for-4 with two doubles and scored three runs to help the Longhorns defeat the Bulldogs.

Adam Thompson was 4-for-4 with three RBIs for Legacy, which scored five runs in the first inning.

Robby Rosenthal and Casey Moses each went 3-for-4 for Centennial.

Palo Verde 12, Faith Lutheran 3 — At Palo Verde, Billy Bob Ward was 3-for-4 with three RBIs as the Panthers downed the Crusaders.

Brian Szepelak went 2-for-2 with three runs and an RBI, and Christian Centrella finished 2-for-2 with a double, a run and an RBI for Palo Verde.

Caleb Summerhays had a double and an RBI for Faith Lutheran.

Cheyenne 6, Mojave 1 — At Mojave, Jerraco Lindsey tossed a two-hitter with no walks and seven strikeouts, and the Desert Shields rallied with six runs in the top of the seventh inning to net a win over the Rattlers.

Marquise Hall hit an inside-the-park grand slam for Cheyenne.

Silverado 13, Del Sol 1 — At Del Sol, Mike Meyers went 3-for-4 with three runs and three RBIs to lead the Skyhawks past the Dragons in six innings.

Bobby Johnson was 3-for-5 with four RBIs with a double, a triple and two runs, and Trevor Johnson was 3-for-3 with a double and two runs for Silverado.

David Day had a solo home run for Del Sol in the fourth inning.

Coronado 8, Green Valley 3 — At Coronado, Scott Hauck went 2-for-2 with a double and three RBIs, and Cody Giordano was 3-for-3 with a double and two runs scored to lead the Cougars past the Gators.

Matt Hall finished 2-for-4 with a run scored for Coronado.

Gabe Douglas belted a two-run homer in the fifth for Green Valley.

Bishop Gorman 6, Las Vegas 2 — At Gorman, Johnny Field went 1-for-3 with two RBIs, and the Gaels scored five runs in the first inning en route to the win.

Xavier Palmer finished 2-for-3 for the Wildcats.

Henderson International 16-12, Sandy Valley 1-2 — At Sandy Valley, Charles Pachas went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs in the opener and 2-for-2 with two doubles and five RBIs in the nightcap as the Wolverines swept the Sidewinders.

Cole Fouch drove in four runs in the first game, which the Wolverines won in five innings.

In the second game, Fouch went 3-for-4 with an RBI, and Boomer Sherrill struck out eight in three innings of relief as Henderson International won in six innings.
