ROUNDUP: Taormina’s late hit allows Skyhawks to nip Dragons

Vince Taormina’s single with one out in the bottom of the seventh inning plated Mike Meyers with the winning run Thursday as Silverado’s baseball team edged visiting Del Sol, 4-3.

Taormina went 2-for-4 with two runs scored, and Bryan Faucher was 2-for-2 with a double, a run and two RBIs for Silverado.

Valley 5, Desert Pines 0 — At Valley, Alex Tryon tossed a four-hitter with 10 strikeouts and two walks to lead the Vikings by the Jaguars.

Omar Gonzalez went 2-for-3 with a triple and an RBI for Valley.

Rancho 6, Sunrise Mountain 0 — At Sunrise Mountain, Max Cruz tossed a three-hitter and struck out 11 to lead the Rams past the Miners.

Alexander Jordan went 3-for-3 with a triple and three runs scored for Rancho.

Ricardo Carral went 2-for-3 to for Sunrise Mountain.

Las Vegas 14, Chaparral 3 — At Chaparral, Dillon Dove was 2-for-3 with a home run, a triple and four RBIs as the Wildcats downed the Cowboys in five innings.

Nolan Cassell added two doubles for Las Vegas.

Daniel Ouzts and Jose Sanchez combined on a one-hitter for the Wildcats.

Eldorado 17, Canyon Springs 2 — At Canyon Springs, Lucio Arreola tossed a five-inning two-hitter with eight strikeouts, and went 4-for-5 with a grand slam and three runs scored as the Sundevils routed the Pioneers.

Johnny Wade and Mike Brown each added three hits and two RBIs for Eldorado, which got two hits, two RBIs and a run from Trey Bayliss.

Foothill 16, Tech 2 — At Tech, Tyler Van Stone went 3-for-3, and teammate Collin Dobrolecki went 2-for-3 with two RBIs as the Falcons cruised past the Roadrunners.

Josh West was 2-for-3 for Tech.

Liberty 16, Basic 6 — At Liberty, Chris Bradford went 3-for-3 with two runs and three RBIs as the Patriots rallied from a 5-0 deficit to down the Wolves in five innings.

Dan Skelly pitched 4 1/3 innings of hitless relief for the Patriots, who trailed 5-0 entering the bottom of the first inning.

Dean Gettman was 1-for-2 with two runs and an RBI for Basic.

Gulliver Prep (Fla.) 7, Bishop Gorman 4 — At Cary, N.C., the Raiders used a five-run second inning to defeat the Gaels in the USA Baseball National High School Invitational.

Johnny Sewald doubled and singled for Gorman, which got two singles and an RBI from Justin Jones.

Legacy 4, Boulder City 0 — At Boulder City, Brayden Torres hit a two-run home run in a three-run sixth inning as the Longhorns downed the Eagles.

Brad Blackham, Joey Wright and Alex Wenzel combined on a four-hitter for Legacy.

The Meadows 3-6, Lincoln County 2-3 — At Panaca, Justin Diamond tossed a two-hitter in the opener, and Garrett Gosse fired a six-hitter in the nightcap as the Mustangs swept the Lynx.

Diamond struck out 11, and the Mustangs scored twice in the sixth inning of the opening game.

Gosse fanned 12 in the finale, and The Meadows held on after building a 5-0 lead.

Lincoln County’s Ryan Rippetoe fired a two-hitter with seven strikeouts in the first game.

Spring Mountain 13-18, Trinity 0-1 — At Mountain Ridge Park, Joseph Skeirik tossed a four-inning no-hitter in the opener and Christian Cazares-Perez had a three-inning no-hitter in the nightcap as the Golden Eagles rolled to a sweep of the Thunder.

In the opener, Skeirek recorded 12 strikeouts and went 1-for-2 with a double and two RBIs.

In the nightcap, Cazares-Perez struck out seven. Skeirek was 1-for-2 with a double and four RBIs.
