ROUNDUP: Van Meetren’s RBI single allows Gorman to outlast Pahrump

Erik Van Meetren singled to left field with no outs in the bottom of the seventh inning to score Justin Jones with the winning run, and Bishop Gorman’s baseball team escaped with a 5-4 home win over Pahrump Valley on Friday.

The Gaels trailed 4-2 entering the bottom of the fifth before rallying to avoid the upset.

The first run came home on a bunt single by Justin Jones, and T.J. White followed with an RBI single to tie the game.

Jones was 2-for-4 with two runs scored, and White went 2-for-4 with an RBI.

White also threw two scoreless innings of relief to earn the win.

Tommy Eaton and Sam Morrow each went 2-for-4 for Pahrump.

The Trojans scored twice in the top of the fifth to break a 2-2 with the help of two Gorman errors. Joe McCaw had an RBI single, and another run came home on a fielder’s choice by Eduardo Martinez.

Bonanza 15, Clark 5 — At Bonanza, Sean DeSoto went 2-for-3 with a triple, a double and three RBIs as the Bengals cruised past the Chargers in five innings.

Ricky Williams was 2-for-3 with four RBIs, and Joaquin Orozco hit a two-run homer for Bonanza.

Clark’s Mike Quiroz went 2-for-2 with a solo home run.

Desert Oasis 6, Durango 2 — At Desert Oasis, Mike Maiello tossed a six-hitter with 14 strikeouts and three walks to lead the Diamondbacks past the Trailblazers.

Jossaiah Raval went 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBIs, and Dillon Krasn was 2-for-3 for Desert Oasis.

Durango’s Derrik Corral went 2-for-3.

Sierra Vista 15, Spring Valley 1 — At Spring Valley, Blair Goldsack was 3-for-4 with three RBIs as the Mountain Lions routed the Grizzlies in six innings.

Las Vegas 10, Valley 0 — At Las Vegas High, Erick Fedde went 3-for-3 with a triple and pitched a three-hitter with five strikeouts as the Wildcats blanked the Vikings in five innings.

Xavier Palmer was 3-for-4 for Las Vegas.

Chaparral 3, Desert Pines 1 — At Desert Pines, Jordan January tossed a three-hitter and struck out 12 to lead the Cowboys past the Jaguars.

Kyle Scott went 2-for-3 for Chaparral.

Roberto Hernandez was 2-for-3 for Desert Pines, which scored an unearned run in the sixth inning.

Rancho 17, Eldorado 0 — At Eldorado, Kevin Kline went 3-for-3 with a double and five RBIs, and the Rams scored 11 runs in the first inning to roll past the Sundevils in five innings.

Zak Qualls was 3-for-3 with a double and three RBIs for Rancho, and retired all nine batters he faced in the first three innings, striking out five.

Sunrise Mountain 9, Canyon Springs 2 — At Sunrise Mountain, Ernest Senda went 2-for-4 with three RBIs as the Miners pulled away from the Pioneers.

Daniel Guardado was 2-for-4 with a triple, two runs and two RBIs for Sunrise Mountain.

Liberty 17, Del Sol 14 — At Del Sol, Teddy Efthemeou went 3-for-4 with three triples and five RBIs to help the Patriots outlast the Dragons.

Manual Menocal was 3-for-4 with two doubles and four RBIs to help Liberty, and teammate Chris Bradford went 4-for-4 with a double and an RBI.

David Day went 4-for-5 with a double, a triple and five RBIs to lead Del Sol, which saw a four-run rally fall short in the bottom of the seventh.

Green Valley 14, Basic 0 — At Green Valley, Brett Harrison was 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBIs, and earned the win as the Gators shut out the Wolves in five innings.

Chad Whiteaker went 3-for-4 with a triple and five RBIs, and Gabe Douglas doubled twice and drove in three runs for Green Valley, which got two hits and an RBI from Evan Van Hoosier.

Tyler Long had two hits for Basic.

Silverado 10, Tech 1 — At Silverado, Mark Janosik went 3-for-3 with two RBIs as the Skyhawks defeated the Roadrunners.

Wyatt Reid was 3-for-4 with a double, a run scored and an RBI for Silverado.

Tech’s Jordan Terry went 2-for-3 with a run scored.

Virgin Valley 17, Western 6 — At Mesquite, Tanner Tichenor had a grand slam and six RBIs to help the Bulldogs to the win.

Virgin Valley led 7-6 before scoring 10 runs in the bottom of the fourth to blow the game open.

Cameron Jensen was 4-for-4 with two doubles, four runs and four RBIs for the Bulldogs.

Ryan Garbowski went 2-for-3 with a double, a homer, two runs and four RBIs for Western. Josh Yocum added a homer for the Warriors.

Boulder City 15-12, Moapa Valley 2-2 — At Boulder City, Nate Hafen was 5-for-8 with two doubles and six RBIs as the Eagles won a pair of five-inning games against the Pirates.

Bill Barth hit a home run in both games for Boulder City, going 3-for-7 with six RBIs on the day, and teammate Nick Morelli went 3-for-6 with two doubles and a triple.

Laughlin 28-4, The Meadows 8-18 — At Laughlin, Garrett Gosse struck out seven and hit a home run in the nightcap to help the Mustangs salvage a split with the Cougars.

Corey Beggs hit two homers in the first game for Laughlin, which scored 16 runs in the top of the seventh. Teammate Andre Prosise had nine strikeouts.

Gosse also homered for The Meadows in the first game.

Mountain View 28-24, Lake Mead 2-3 — At Mountain View, T.J. Engel went 6-for-8 with three doubles and six RBIs as the Saints routed the Eagles in two five-inning games.

Reece Bowman went a combined 8-for-11 with a double and seven RBIs for Mountain View.

The Saints’ Trevor Van Kempen struck out nine in four innings in the first game.

Calvary Chapel 17-30, Agassi Prep 4-5 — At Doolittle Park, Steven Shigley went a combined 7-for-8 with four home runs and 11 RBIs to lead the Lions to a pair of three-inning wins over the Stars.

Shigley belted three homers in the first game, then hit for the cycle in the nightcap.

Calvary Chapel’s Dillon Smith was 6-for-7 with two home runs and 10 RBIs on the day.

Indian Springs 13-16, Spring Mountain 2-0 — At Indian Springs, Adam Reinke went 3-for-3 in each game as the Thunderbirds swept a pair of five-inning games from the Golden Eagles.

Reinke hit a two-run homer and drove in three in the opener. In the nightcap, he combined with two relievers on a one-hitter, striking out eight in four innings. Reinke also had two doubles, three runs and two RBIs in the second game.

Xavier Pena tossed a two-hitter with 10 strikeouts and finished 3-for-3 with a two-run triple in the opener for Indian Springs.

Pahranagat Valley 22-10, Sandy Valley 1-0 — At Alamo, Derek Hansen went a combined 5-for-7 with a home run, a double, six runs and nine RBIs to lead the Panthers to a sweep of the Sidewinders in two five-inning games.

Pahranagat Valley’s Kade Wadsworth fired a three-hitter with eight strikeouts in the nightcap and was 3-for-7 with six runs and two RBIs through both games.

Tyson Sparrow went a combined 6-for-6 with four RBIs for the Panthers.
