NOTES: Coronado boys basketball coach steps down

Coronado boys basketball coach Paul Berg has resigned after nine seasons at the school.

Berg led the Cougars to a 23-7 record last season when the team advanced to the Sunrise Region semifinals.

Berg now is dean of students at Mack Middle School.

Palo Verde's McCormick commits

Palo Verde softball standout Melissa McCormick committed recently to Towson.

McCormick, a senior pitcher, was a first-team all-state selection last season after she went 26-10 with a 1.25 ERA and 326 strikeouts in 235 innings.
