ROUNDUP: National power Mater Dei edges Gorman boys

Tyler Lamb, who has committed to UCLA, scored 26 points to help Mater Dei (Calif.) edge Bishop Gorman 82-76 in the Nike Extravaganza on Saturday at Santa Ana, Calif.
Mater Dei (22-1) entered ranked No. 11 nationally by USA Today. Gorman, which is No. 12, had its 23-game winning streak snapped.
Arizona State recruit Keala King added 21 points for the Monarchs, who took a 34-29 halftime lead and extended it to 59-51 heading into the fourth quarter.
The Gaels (23-2) pulled within five points, but the Monarchs made their free throws down the stretch. Mater Dei hit 25 of 32 at the foul line for the game.
Shabazz Muhammad carried the Gaels with 29 points. Anson Winder added 21 points and 10 rebounds, and Johnathan Loyd scored 18 points. The Gaels shot 25 of 49 from the field and 23 of 30 on free throws.
Gorman’s other loss came in its season opener against Findlay Prep, which is No. 3 in the nation.
Spring Valley 84, Pahrump Valley 34 — At Pahrump, Shannon Nolan, Justin Omogun and Malcolm Scott each scored 12 points as the Grizzlies used a balanced but potent attack to down the Trojans.
Corey Clement added 11 points for Spring Valley, which led 44-15 at the half.
David Smith led Pahrump with nine points.
Virgin Valley 74, Lake Mead 70 — At Lake Mead, Cameron Jensen scored 10 of his 26 points in the fourth quarter to help Virgin Valley nip the Eagles.
Jason Wittwer added 15 points, Austin Cloes 13 and Zach Horlacher 10 for the Bulldogs, who outscored Lake Mead 30-24 in the fourth quarter.
De’Quan Thompson paced Lake Mead with 25 points and seven assists. Spencer Kowis added 16 points and eight rebounds for the Eagles. Landon Littlefield scored 13 points and L.J. Yamazon 12 for Lake Mead.
Lincoln County 92, Agassi Prep 67 — At Panaca, Eric Rippetoe racked up 39 points and 13 rebounds, and the Lynx grabbed a 57-34 halftime lead on their way to securing at least a share of the Class 2A Southern League regular season title.
Dantley Walker added 25 points and 11 assists, and Jeremy Avery had 14 points and 12 rebounds for Lincoln County.
Quincy Brown led the Stars with 24 points. Dimitri Amos scored 13 and Darryl Green 10 for Agassi Prep.
The Meadows 67, West Wendover 59 — At Southwest Career and Technical Academy, Max Newman scored 11 of his 20 points in the fourth quarter as the Mustangs used a 20-4 run in the final period to rally past the Wolverines.
Austin Brown added 16 points, Garrett Gosse 15 and Dylan Lee 12 for The Meadows.
Homero Quinonez led West Wendover with 15 points.
Needles 66, White Pine 54 — At Needles, Calif., Michael Hills and Aaron Burns each scored 12 points as the Mustangs topped White Pine.
Hills added five assists, and Burns had eight rebounds for the Mustangs, who outscored White Pine 23-15 in the third quarter to open up a 50-37 lead.
Andrew Hooper had 11 points for Needles.
Michael Johnson led the Bobcats with 22 points.
Trinity 76, Henderson International 58 — At Henderson International, Budweiser Hawkins poured in 33 points to lift the Thunder past the Wolverines.
Tyler Watts added 17 points, and Gage Neuwohner scored 16 for Trinity.
Cal Rivera led Henderson International with 22 points and six rebounds. Jay Sutorius added 16 points, and Keenan Gladd-Brown had 10 points and seven rebounds for the Wolverines.
Round Mountain 52, Indian Springs 41 — At Indian Springs, Will Sweeney scored 27 points, and the Knights outscored the Thunderbirds 32-20 in the second half to earn the win.
Adam Reinke led Indian Springs with 16 points.
Beatty 73, Tonopah 28 — At Tonopah, Ivan Maldonado scored 22 points to lead the Hornets in a rout of the Muckers.
Ramiro Hernandez added 15 points, and Anthony Turner scored 13 for Beatty.
Denver Otteson paced Tonopah with nine points.
