ROUNDUP: Spillers, Cimarron boys topple Fountain Valley to take tournament title

Deijon Spillers had 20 points, 14 rebounds and seven blocked shots Wednesday as Cimarron-Memorial’s boys basketball team won the Alvarez Tire Holiday Classic by downing Fountain Valley (Calif.), 62-44 in the title game in Prescott Valley, Ariz.

Christian Brown added 13 points for Cimarron, and the tournament’s Most Valuable Player Rico Garrett had six points, 12 assists and four steals.

Spillers and Erik Brewer, who added eight points, were both named to the all-tournament team.

Zachary Mattar had 15 points for Fountain Valley.

Bishop Gorman 50, Lincoln (Ore.) 41 — At Hillsboro, Ore., Shabazz Muhammad had 15 points and six rebounds to lead the Gaels to the win in the Les Schwab Invitational.

Ben Carter added nine points and six rebounds for the Gaels, who advanced to the championship game with the win.

La Costa Canyon (Calif.) 80, Canyon Springs 76 — At Carlsbad, Calif., Matt Shrigley had 32 points, including a 3-pointer to tie the game in overtime, as La Costa Canyon downed the Pioneers in the semifinals of the Holiday Classic.

Michael Thompson had 22 points and eight rebounds to lead Canyon Springs, which missed a potential game-winning shot at the end of regulation, and held a three-point overtime lead before Shrigley’s shot.

Jared Brandon added 21 points and six rebounds, and Chris Willis had 13 points and nine rebounds for Canyon Springs.

Green Valley 70, Orange Glen (Calif.) 34 — At El Cajon, Calif., Earl Thompson racked up 25 points and eight rebounds to power the Gators past the Patriots in the Braves Basketball Classic.

Campbell County (Wyo.) 74, Sierra Vista 61 — At Gillette, Wyo., Taran Brown had 26 points, and

Blaine Shaffer scored 25 to lead the Camels over the Mountain Lions in the Energy Classic.

Viko Noma’aea led Sierra Vista with 17 points. Maiscei Grier and Xavier Rogers added 15 and 13 pionts, respectively.

Lincoln County 73, Enterprise (Utah) 49 — At Enterprise, Utah, Dantley Walker had 36 pints, seven rebounds, six assists and eight steals to lead the Lynx to a win over the Wolves.

Chandler Katschke added 20 points and 15 rebounds for Lincoln County.

Cedar (Utah) 74, Moapa Valley 40 — At Cedar City, Utah, Kyler Nielson scored 20 points as the Redmen blitzed the Pirates in the Steve Hodson Classic.

Hayden Cooper scored nine points to lead Moapa Valley, which failed to recover after Cedar went on a 14-3 run in the second quarter.

Virgin Valley 41, Grantsville (Utah) 39 — At Cedar City, Utah, the Bulldogs took a 29-15 halftime advantage and held on for a win over the Cowboys in the Steve Hodson Classic.
