GIRLS BASKETBALL: Western shakes off scoreless third quarter, tops Sierra Vista

Destiny Gonzalez scored 25 points, and Western's girls basketball team survived a scoreless third-quarter to hold off host Sierra Vista, 48-43 on Monday.

Capricia Pierce added 19 points for the Warriors, who led 36-24 at the half, but were outscored 8-0 in the third quarter.

Shania Harper led the Mountain Lions with 15 points and 13 rebounds. Kayla Smith added 14 points, and teammate Iymoni Burrell scored 10 for Sierra Vista.

Boulder City 53, Tech 47 — At Tech, Megan Morton scored 19 points to lead the Eagles past the Roadrunners.

Setia Cox added eight points for Boulder City, which led 37-28 after three quarters and held on.

Tayler Muwwakkil had 15 points to lead Tech. Lidia Woosen and Leslie Williams each added 12 points for the Roadrunners.

Clark 45, Pahrump Valley 37 — At Clark, Monique Daniels had 13 points as the Chargers rallied by the Trojans.

Shaylyn Thacker added 12 points for Clark, which trailed 23-12 at the half and 29-26 after three quarters.

Bethany Calvert paced Pahrump with 12 points.

Desert Oasis 51, Shadow Ridge 43 — At Shadow Ridge, Mikala Kirby had 13 points to lead the Diamondbacks by the Mustangs.

Ashlynn Sharp added 11 points, and KePatriot Simpson scored 10 for Desert Oasis, which led 15-6 after one quarter.

Lauryn Calo led Shadow Ridge with 15 points.

Cheyenne 50, Mojave 41 — At Mojave, Morrisha Harden scored 13 points to help the Desert Shields top the Rattlers.

Ejanae Coopwood added 11 points for Cheyenne, which outscored Mojave 26-17 in the fourth quarter. The game was tied at 24 after three quarters.

Kiara Lemon led Mojave with 19 points.

Chaparral 63, Moapa Valley 50 — At Overton, Marcia Hawkins scored 20 points as the Cowboys rolled past the Pirates.

Jade Hazelton added 14 points for Chaparral, which grabbed a 41-12 halftime lead. Alexis Vanstory scored 12 points, and Jasmine Martin scored 10 for the Cowboys.

Tapanga Durham scored 14 points for Moapa Valley, and teammate Kinlee Marshall added 13 points.

Virgin Valley 50, Del Sol 28 — At Del Sol, Briana Todd scored 16 points, and the Bulldogs took a 27-9 halftime lead en route to a win over the Dragons.

Spencer Green added 11 points, and Emma Barnum scored 10 for Virgin Valley.

Ingrid Zarate had 10 points and 12 rebounds for Del Sol, and teammate Ana Ozuna had 10 points.

Desert Pines 62, Sunrise Mountain 31 — At Sunrise Mountain, Chrystian Myles and Jordan Bailey scored 14 points each as the Jaguars routed the Miners.

Desert Pines jumped out to a 19-6 first-quarter lead and never looked back.

Ayla Diaz scored 11 points to lead Sunrise Mountain.

Bishop Gorman 76, Legacy 39 — At Legacy, Ciara Young, Skylar Jackson and Raychel Stanley each scored 14 points as the Gaels downed the Longhorns.

Gorman used a 40-15 run in the middle quarters to build a 60-25 lead.

TaEha Pankey led Legacy with nine points.

Palo Verde 65, Durango 22 — At Durango, Paulina Silcox scored 17 points as the Panthers routed the Trailblazers.

Kaylee Puckett added 13 points, and Marice Goldberg scored 12 for Palo Verde, which used a 33-5 run in the middle quarters to pull away.

Brittany Romo led Durango with 12 points.
