ROUNDUP: Coronado wins to secure playoff berth in girls basketball

Nicole Ruffino hit a 3-pointer with less than a minute to play to give Coronado’s girls basketball team a 46-44 road win over Basic on Thursday night.

The win secured the Southeast League’s final playoff berth.

Ruffino, Lindsay Decker and Caitlin Trost each finished with eight points to lead Coronado.

Michaela Thomas scored 11 points for Basic.

Legacy 56, Palo Verde 45 — At Legacy, Kayla Murray had 14 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Longhorns over the Panthers.

Legacy used a 19-4 third-quarter run to take control. The score was tied at 26 at the half.

Adriona Jordan and Kendra Irving each scored nine points for the Longhorns. Kindrea Poole added eight points and 16 rebounds for Legacy.

Hayley Henderson scored 12 points for Palo Verde.

Liberty 54, Tech 53 — At Liberty, the Patriots outscored the Roadrunners 18-4 in the fourth quarter and took the lead for good on Chanel Nacua’s free throws with less than 30 seconds to play.

Amanda Delgado scored 14 points, and Phoebe Baker and Jade Washington each had 11 points to lead Liberty.

Cheryl Harless scored 17 points, Mesha Phillips 13 and Adriana Heredia 10 to lead Tech.

Shadow Ridge 55, Cimarron-Memorial 47 — At Shadow Ridge, Elisha Hensey had 17 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Mustangs past the Spartans.

Breeanna Tatum added 13 points for Shadow Ridge, which outscored Cimarron 13-5 in the first quarter and 17-9 in the third.

Catherine Wyre scored 22 points and Veronica Alcala 12 for the Spartans.

Foothill 54, Del Sol 27 — At Del Sol, Mercedes Starr had 19 points to help the Falcons cruise to victory.

Lauren Potter added nine points and Brigitte Rigon eight for Foothill.

Amy Austin led the Dragons with 14 points.

Centennial 80, Arbor View 26 — At Centennial, Shannon Brown had 19 points and Courtney Hayes 18 points, four assists and five steals as the Bulldogs rolled.

Deanna Daniels added 15 points and Johnna Brown 12 for Centennial, which led 23-4 after one quarter.

Jena Valenzuela led the Aggies with nine points.

Needles 67, Mountain View 57 — At Needles, Calif., the Mustangs outscored the Saints 40-19 in the second half to get the win.

Chrystian Dick led three Needles players in double-figure scoring with 12 points. Gena Chavira and Miranda Brackett each had 11 points and Kristin Arthur 10.

Ellie Markwardt had 39 points, five rebounds, three steals and three assists for Mountain View.
