ROUNDUP: Cox, solid defense send Legacy girls to division semifinals at Nike TOC

Shakita Cox scored 12 points Tuesday to lead Legacy’s girls basketball team to a 41-33 win over J.M. Hanks (Texas) in the Nike Tournament of Champions in Phoenix.

Latia Matthews and Makayla Hicks each grabbed 13 rebounds for the Longhorns, who moved into the semifinals of the Black Division.

Sierra Vista 70, Western (Calif.) 29 — At Anaheim, Calif., Jasmine Suarez drained six 3-pointers and finished with 26 points as the Mountain Lions routed Western in the Savanna Tournament.

Jeanette Jackson added 14 points, and Marley Wakeen scored 11 for Sierra Vista.

Liberty 54, Valley Vista (Ariz.) 44 — At Phoenix, Amanda Delgado tallied 20 points, and the Patriots pulled away in the fourth quarter to post a win in the Nike Tournament of Champions.

Alena Evans added 12 points and five rebounds for Liberty.

Bristol Bailey led Valley Vista with 14 points.

Canyon Springs 63, Desert Vista (Ariz.) 47 — At Phoenix, Pearl Paulo pumped in 22 points to lift the Pioneers past Desert Vista in the Nike Tournament of Champions.

Kenosha Wright added 14 points for the Pioneers, who extended a 35-27 halftime lead.

Chaminade (Calif.) 64, Palo Verde 32 — Chaminade used a strong second-half push to pull away from the Panthers in the Nike Tournament of Champions.

West Hills (Calif.) 68, Desert Pines 17 — At San Diego, Cydney Myles scored 12 points for the Jaguars in a losing effort at the SoCal Holiday Prep Classic.

Pahranagat Valley 55, White Pine 47 — At Alamo, Dakota Day scored 15 of her 18 points in the second half to propel the Panthers past the Bobcats.

Day scored nine points as the Panthers outscored White Pine, 19-13 in the fourth quarter.

Halie Lewis added 17 points and nine rebounds for Pahranagat Valley.
