ROUNDUP: Evans leads Patriot girls to season-opening rout of Wildcats

Alena Evans racked up 22 points, 10 rebounds and five steals Tuesday as defending Sunrise Region champion Liberty opened its girls basketball season with a 77-24 victory over visiting Las Vegas High.
Amanda Delgado added 18 points and seven assists, and Jade Washington supplied eight points, nine assists and five steals for the Patriots.
Shomari Harris paced the Wildcats with seven points.
Centennial 96, Basic 14 — At Centennial, Jada Brown collected 22 points, nine rebounds and six steals as the Bulldogs blitzed to a 43-2 halftime lead and buried the Wolves.
Simone Barber added 20 points for the Bulldogs, who had five players score in double figures.
Courtney Hayes supplied 18 points for Centennial, which got 12 points from Shannon Brown and 10 points from Ashley Klemz.
Cheyenne 53, Chaparral 19 — At Chaparral, Britnee Shaw and Amanda Fluker each scored 12 points as the Desert Shields bolted to a 17-3 lead after one quarter and cruised past the Cowboys.
Kayla Armstrong added eight points for Cheyenne.
Jacquie Ferguson led Chaparral with 10 points.
Coronado 60, Arbor View 22 — At Coronado, Caitlin Trost scored 14 points, and Sofie Cruz tallied 10 points as the Cougars cruised to an easy win over the Aggies.
Katie Monaco added eight points for Coronado.
Ria Louch, Darje Martin and Samantha Bales each scored five points for Arbor View.
Tech 61, Boulder City 36 — At Tech, Adriana Heredia scored 23 points to lead the Roadrunners to an easy win over the Eagles.
Mesha Phillips tallied 17 points, and Kristena Wilson added 16 for Tech.
Boulder City got seven points apiece from Stephanie Adams, Felicia Walker and Whitney Barlow.
Moapa Valley 64, Del Sol 47 — At Del Sol, Shea Gifford scored 17 points to lead the Pirates past the Dragons.
Brianna Harding added 14 points and Paige Leavitt contributed 13 points for Moapa Valley, which used a 24-10 run in the second quarter to pull away.
Kim Chischillie had 11 points, and Desiree Orozco scored 10 for Del Sol, which got nine points and 15 rebounds from Melissa DeSantiago.
Virgin Valley 61, Silverado 53 — At Silverado, Jenelle Weythman tallied eight of her 14 points in the fourth quarter to help rally the Bulldogs past the Skyhawks.
Virgin Valley trailed 39-38 entering the fourth quarter before pulling away late.
Abbie Barnard had 16 points, and Rachel Morris added 15 for Virgin Valley.
Jessica Meyers paced Silverado with 19 points, and teammate Natalie Lainhart scored 13.
Needles 31, Lake Havasu (Ariz.) 21— At Needles, Gena Chavira scored 12 points to help the Mustangs defeat the Knights.
Abby Chandler supplied 10 points for Needles.
