ROUNDUP: Evans, Patriots race to home win over Diamondbacks

Alena Evans racked up 14 points, nine rebounds and nine steals Friday to lead Liberty’s girls basketball team to a 60-45 win over visiting Desert Oasis.

Dayanni Cochran had 17 points, five rebounds and four blocks, and Chanel Nacua added 11 points and seven rebounds for the defending Sunrise Region champion Patriots.

Liberty led only 22-19 at the half, but used a 20-8 run in the third quarter to pull away.

Auburn Smith paced the Diamondbacks with 13 points.

Centennial 72, Bishop Manogue 40 — At Reno High, the Bulldogs led 37-20 at the half and cruised to an easy victory over the Miners.

Jada Brown had 16 points, 11 rebounds and six steals, and Breanna Workman added 12 points, eight rebounds and six assists for Centennial.

Simone Barber scored 12 points, and Shannon Brown added 11 points for the Bulldogs.

Reno 44, Palo Verde 38 — At Reno High, Shannon Gough scored 16 points to lead the Knights past the Panthers.

Jasmin Kiley had 24 points for Palo Verde, which got 11 points and 11 rebounds from Lily Tapusoa.

Valley 66, Del Sol 30 — At Valley, Tyricia Payne had 24 points, 17 rebounds, seven steals and four assists to lead the Vikings in a rout of the Dragons.

Gabby Cabanero had 16 points, nine steals and four assists, and Kennedy Wharton pitched in 14 points and seven rebounds for Valley.

Desiree Orozco led Del Sol with 11 points.

Faith Lutheran 49, Tech 27 — At Tech, Taylor Hammer poured in 14 points, and the Crusaders grabbed a 25-12 halftime lead on their way to a win over the Roadrunners.

Jessica Forage added 10 points for Faith Lutheran.

Kristena Wilson paced Tech with 13 points.

Virgin Valley 49, Truckee 42 — At Winnemucca, Cassidy Crandall scored 13 points, and the Bulldogs took a 30-19 halftime lead and held off the Wolverines in the Lowry Invitational.

Aleigh Krug led Truckee with 18 points.

Mountain View 43, Beatty 38 — At Mountain View, Briana Marruffo scored a career-high 29 points and added 16 rebounds and six steals to lead the Saints past the Hornets. 

Needles 35, Pahrump Valley 16 — At Mohave Valley, Ariz., Abby Chandler scored 10 points, and the Mustangs limited the Trojans to five first-half points on their way to a win in the River Valley Shootout.

Holly Laswell added eight points for Needles.

Mohave (Ariz.) 49, Needles 21 — At Mohave Valley, Ariz., Mohave jumped out to leads of 16-1 after one quarter and 36-4 at the half and raced past the Mustangs in the River Valley Shootout.
