ROUNDUP: Turney, Foothill girls rally to top Cougars

Taylor Turney scored 17 points, and Foothill’s girls basketball team battled back from a 10-3 first-quarter deficit Wednesday to top host Coronado, 48-45.

Anaya Rodisha added 10 points for the Falcons, who trailed 31-29 entering the fourth quarter. Foothill was 21-for-32 on free throws, compared to a 4-for-10 effort by the Cougars.

Ashley Johnson had 17 points for Coronado, which also got 14 points from Sofie Cruz.

Durango 57, Palo Verde 51 — At Durango, Jazmine Chavez had 20 points, 18 rebounds and four blocked shots as the Trailblazers outlasted the Panthers in overtime.

Brittany Romo supplied 11 points, including a layup with 17 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter to tie the game and force the extra period. Yli Makrousova contributed 13 points for Durango, which outpaced Palo Verde 14-8 in overtime.

Ivana Ganeva scored 15 points, and Ioana Ganeva added 13 points to lead Palo Verde, which got 10 points from Paulina Silcox.

Rancho 39, Green Valley 37 — At Green Valley, Kanosha Grey scored 14 points to help the Rams to hold off the Gators.

LaKissa Martin added eight points for Rancho, which led 22-11 at halftime and made just 4 of 16 free throws.

Rianna Rudolph scored 15 points for Green Valley.

Canyon Springs 60, Valley 51 — At Valley, Cherise Beynon scored 22 points to help the Pioneers to victory over the Vikings.

Daijhan Cooks added 12 points for Canyon Springs, which took a 13-6 lead after one quarter.

Tyricia Payne led Valley with 25 points, and teammate Kennedy Wharton scored 11. Taylor Payne grabbed 17 rebounds for the Vikings.

Las Vegas 66, Silverado 56 — At Silverado, Matti Ventling poured in 28 points to lead the Wildcats by the Skyhawks.

Shaleea Butler added 17 points, and Shomari Harris scored 10 for Las Vegas, which made 21 of 24 free throws.

Brittany Loguidice had 27 points for Silverado.

Arbor View 50, Shadow Ridge 40 — At Shadow Ridge, Ariona Gill scored 17 points to lead the Aggies to a win over the Mustangs.

Jocelyn Jordan had 11 points, and Janae Strode added 10 points for Arbor View.

Aubree Nish led Shadow Ridge with 12 points.

Sierra Vista 50, Spring Valley 40 — At Sierra Vista, Enas Ajaj scored 13 points, and the Mountain Lions used an 18-9 second quarter spurt to pull away from the Grizzlies.

Melia Tadytin and Kennedy Nieves each added 12 points for Sierra Vista, which got eight rebounds from Maranda Ramos.

Jessica Stevens had 13 points, and Jana Espiritu scored 10 for Spring Valley.

Basic 45, Del Sol 40 — At Del Sol, Dana Deloney scored 17 points, and the Wolves used an 11-4 third-quarter run to top the Dragons.

Chloe Cabanas paced Del Sol with 15 points.

Liberty 71, Eldorado 23 — At Liberty, Paris Strawther had 15 points and 13 rebounds, and the Patriots used a 47-7 run during the middle two quarters to rout the Sundevils.

Tae’lor Monroe had 16 points and four assists, and Dayanni Cochran and Kealy Brown each added 13 points for Liberty, which got 10 rebounds from Jamellia Clark.

Denisheun Jackson paced Eldorado with 10 points.

Calvary Chapel 49, Laughlin 25 — At Laughlin, Phallen Nelson scored 15 points to lead the Lions by the Cougars.

Chloe Hammond added 12 points for Calvary Chapel.

DeAnna Tripp paced Laughlin with nine points.

4A/3A girls state roundup: Legacy, Canyon Springs ousted

Legacy and Canyon Springs couldn’t keep up in the Class 4A girls basketball state semifinals. The Southern Region representatives in 3A also were eliminated.
