ROUNDUP: Valenzuela’s double-double helps Arbor View girls to first win of year

Jena Valenzuela had 16 points and 12 rebounds Thursday as Arbor View’s girls basketball team collected its first win of the season, holding off visiting Cheyenne, 36-32.

Dana Lewis supplied six points and 12 rebounds for the Aggies (1-14).

Britnee Shaw paced Cheyenne with 16 points. 

Mojave 65, Faith Lutheran 64 — At Mojave, Jazzmine Robinson scored 18 of her 29 points in the fourth quarter as the Rattlers rallied to nip the Crusaders.

Alexandria Thiel added 16 points for Mojave, which trailed 29-23 at the half.

Kelsey McCourt had 16 points to lead four double-figure scorers for the Crusaders. Samantha Leonard supplied 15 points, Taylor Hammer scored 12 and Julia Benko added 11 points for Faith Lutheran.

Centennial 92, Cimarron-Memorial 45 — At Cimarron, Breanna Workman scored 20 points as the Bulldogs rolled past the Spartans.

Denajha Kie added 17 points, and Jada Brown and Ashley Klemz each had 15 points for Centennial, which got 10 points from Tamera Williams.

Traci Parks led Cimarron with 21 points, and teammate Tyler Simpson scored 12.

Palo Verde 60, Shadow Ridge 41 — At Shadow Ridge, Dominique Bryant scored 14 points to lift the Panthers past the Mustangs.

Nicole Ameli and Jasmin Kiley each scored 10 points for Palo Verde, which led 38-15 at halftime.

Vianne Perez led Shadow Ridge with 17 points.

Sierra Vista 76, Spring Valley 41 — At Sierra Vista, Jeanette Jackson had 19 points, six steals and four assists to lead the Lions past the Grizzlies.

Jasmine Suarez added 19 points, four steals and four assists to help Sierra Vista, which took over early and rolled to a 40-17 halftime lead.

Melia Tadytin scored 12 points, and Marley Wakeen tallied 11 points for Sierra Vista.

Ayanna Davison scored 10 points to lead Spring Valley.

Bishop Gorman 77, Pahrump Valley 13 — At Pahrump, Zhane Dikes scored 15 points to send the Gaels past the Trojans.

Amber Lane supplied 13 points, and Chelsie Pitt added 12 points for Gorman.

Petra Beighley paced Pahrump with five points.

Clark 60, Bonanza 47 — At Bonanza, Angelena Cook scored 16 points to help the Chargers defeat the Bengals.

Kiara Nesmith added 13 points for Clark, which used a 21-9 third-quarter run to pull away.

Tranee Jenkins scored 12 points to lead the Bengals, who were hurt by foul trouble in the second half.

Legacy 89, Moapa Valley 40 — At Overton, Shakita Cox scored 18 of her game-high 27 points in the first half to help the Longhorns cruise past the Pirates.

Makayla Hicks added 14 points for Legacy, which jumped to a 24-4 first-quarter lead.

Hanna Leavitt led Moapa with eight points and five assists, and teammate Amanda Campbell added seven points and 17 rebounds.

Pahranagat Valley 38, Parowan (Utah) 36 — At Alamo, Halie Lewis had 17 points and six steals, including the go-ahead basket in the final two minutes, to lift the Panthers to the win.

Bailee Hosier supplied seven points and five assists for Pahranagat Valley, and Dakota Day contributed seven points and five steals.
