Outlook: Though the Bengals showed some flashes of being a playoff team early, things didn’t finish well and the team was winless in the Southwest League.

And graduation hit Bonanza hard, taking 27 seniors, including the team’s leading passer, top four rushers and top four receivers.

Bonanza also lost top offensive lineman, Knapp, who is playing at Colorado Mesa.

Still, Volcic has increased expectations for his squad, including a return to the playoffs for the first time since 2011.

Volcic said the team also hopes to beat rival Spring Valley for the fourth consecutive season and beat Desert Oasis for the first time. The Bengals are 0-5 against the Diamondbacks.
