Outlook: The Sundevils struggled a year ago, ekeing out a win against Sunrise Mountain in Week 3, but managing little success the rest of the season.

Still, coach Brown is upbeat entering the season, and expects big things from Joshua Brown, Spivey, Villarreal and Dennis.

Joshua Brown saw time at multiple positions last season, and that could be the case again. He passed for 445 yards and four TDs, rushed for a team-high 348 yards and five TDs and caught seven passes for 128 yards and a score.

If Dabbs can emerge at quarterback, it will free Joshua Brown to play other positions and give the team more weapons.

Spivey was the team’s top receiver with 30 catches for 337 yards and three TDs.

Villarreal (52 tackles, three sacks) and Dennis (37 tackles) should key the defense.

“If Deven Dabbs can continue to improve at the (quarterback) position, then the Sundevils will be able to make a push for the playoffs,” Vernon Brown said.
